Because of the foresight of the founders of Warm Springs; the wonderful, talented and dedicated staff; and the generous contributors to the March of Dimes she was able to walk with crutches after nine months of therapy.
Before then, Jean had graduated from Florida Southern College and became one of the fourth grade teachers at Morris Brandon School in Atlanta. She loved her students and loved being a teacher. During this time she also met one lucky fellow, Ken Clary, to whom she was to be married in March of 1956 and eventually did marry him on June 28, 1958. She said that she would only marry if she could walk down the church aisle holding her father's arm, and that she did.
Over the years Jean suffered many broken bones and for the last 25 years she was confined to a wheelchair but nothing stopped her from having three marvelous daughters: Linda Clary, Jan Gross, and Carol Holmes. And absolutely nothing stopped her from being a tremendous grandmother to her 9 grandchildren: John Anthony, Abby, Benjamin and Nathan Umberger; Kayley, Amanda, and Ansley Gross; and Reagan and Walker Holmes.
She is proceeded in death by her parents Lee and “Buck” Linville, and her sister Nancy Jones. She is survived by one brother, Bob Linville of Folly Beach, South Carolina.
For more than 35 years, even up to a month ago, Jean and Ken worked together in their sales organization called Ken Clary & Company.
Although Jean had been an active church member all of her life, she was not certain of her spiritual future. After attending a Bible class in 1964, the teacher suggested she claim Romans 10:9 as her very own promise: “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”
From that moment on, a miracle took place in her life, she knew that heaven would be her home and that she would spend eternity with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
