

Jean Evans Flemister, 93, was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho on October 14, 1920 and passed away June 4, 2014. Her early years were spent in Idaho, Utah, Louisiana and North Carolina where her father was a U.S. Forester. The family moved to Atlanta in 1934. She finished Atlanta Girls High in 1939, and then graduated from the University of Georgia in 1942 where she was active in student government and Kappa Delta sorority. In 1942 she married her high school sweetheart Harry Flemister. He was an Ensign in the Navy Reserve and the wedding was at St. Albans Parish church in Washington D.C. After the war (WWII) they returned to Atlanta. Through the years she was active in Girl Scouting, the High Museum, The U.S.O., Sandy Springs and North Springs Methodist churches. She taught for many years in North Fulton as a supply teacher. She is survived by her husband, Harry; daughters Martha F. Barnes(Jerry) and Jessie F. Carson; grandchildren Robert Lewis(Christy), Sharon Reeves(Rodney), Tracey Pritchett, Alisha Barfield, Heather Davis and Mychael Barfield(Jennifer); six great ¬grandchildren and 5 great-¬great-¬grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at North Springs United Methodist Church at 2 PM. Saturday, June 14, 2014. A reception will follow. The body was cremated and private interment will be held at Westview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations to North Springs United Methodist Church or Hospice Atlanta Center, 1244 Park Vista Dr. NE, Atlanta, GA 30319 will be accepted.
