

Jean Wright Vaughan, 92, of Marietta, Georgia, passed away in her home on December 20, 2014 surrounded by family and friends. She was born and raised in Suwanee, Georgia, graduated from the University of Georgia with a Home Economics major, then moved to Atlanta. She then worked for Georgia Power selling appliances, accumulating several awards for her success. In 1946 she married Cranston “Cy” Hayden Vaughan, co-founder of Brand Vaughan Lumber Company and in 1951 with the birth of her son Chip she switched careers to become a fulltime homemaker. She was deeply involved in her churches – first Beecher Hills Baptist Church in Southwest Atlanta, then Wieuca Road Baptist in Buckhead. In her last years she faithfully attended Johnson Ferry Baptist in Marietta. She was also active with Lakeside Country Club and beginning in the early 1970’s with Atlanta Country Club in Marietta. She was a loving and generous wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Mrs. Vaughan was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Cranston “Cy” Vaughan and is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Chip and Janet Vaughan; grandchildren, Jennifer Herold and her husband, Dale, Jon Vaughan and his wife, Molly, Matt Vaughan, Drew Vaughan; and great grandchildren, Nate and Hollis Vaughan and Drew and Haley Herold. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Wieuca Road Baptist Church. Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at 11 o’clock at Wieuca Road Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8 o’clock at H.M. Patterson and Son, Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Rd., NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328 and one hour prior to the service at the church.
