Though we mourn her passing, we celebrate a beautifully lived life filled with love, laughter, and resilience. She was 94, born on February 10, 1931, in Ardmore, Oklahoma to Lillie Lois Mitchell and Roy Mitchell.
Jeannean was a devoted wife to Andrew Herbert Turpin, Sr., and a loving mother to Andrew Herbert Turpin, Jr., Jenay Turpin Sheehan, and Donna DuShane Turpin Kiely. She was the cornerstone of her family. Her life was a testament to family, patience, and loving care. She touched the lives of all who knew her with her warmth and kindness. To know her was to know the most genuine and selfless soul - someone who made everyone feel seen, cared for, and deeply loved, and someone who always put everyone else’s needs before her own.
Those who knew Jeannean will remember her for her infectious laugh and smile, her quick wit, her warm spirit, and her unmatched cooking. Her fried chicken was the best ever, her turkey and dressing was nothing short of legendary, and she had a gift for walking into a pantry that seemed empty and creating a full meal that fed everyone with love. She always made our house a home with her designer’s touch and finding joy in the simple things. We will forever cherish memories of her laughter, her cooking, her singing and dancing, her stories of teaching dancing where she met the love of her life Herb, and the way she could simply play with our hair or hold our hands as her quiet way of saying, “I love you” or scratch our backs, the best ever, until she would drift off to sleep and become a ‘same spot scratcher’ making us all laugh. She was a pillar of unwavering strength and support for her family, in good times and in trying times, shaping her family into who they are today, and always there to offer a helping hand or a word of wisdom. She taught the importance of kindness and perseverance. The lessons she taught and the love she gave will stay with us forever. Her love was perfect. She was perfect.
For the last ten years, Jeannean bravely battled dementia. Though the disease tried to take away parts of her, her strength, her smile, her motherly instincts, and her love for her family always shone through. She fought with courage until the very end, and while it breaks our hearts to let her go, we find peace knowing she can finally rest - free from fear and pain – and be ultimately reunited with her beloved husband, Herb, where we know they will be dancing again.
She is survived by her children, Andrew Herbert Turpin, Jr., Jenay Turpin Sheehan and Donna DuShane Turpin Kiely, her grandchildren, Kristina Marie Jackson and grandson-in-law Timothy Jackson, Andrew Herbert Turpin, III and granddaughter-in-law Shannon Turpin and Trisha Nicole Turpin, her great grandchildren, Aubree Harlow Jackson, Ava Monroe Jackson and Timothy Rhett Jackson, Nora Rose Turpin and Lily Maeve Turpin, her daughter-in-law, Sandra Turpin, her nephew Warren Ray Wood and her niece Amanda Maddux along with many more nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Herbert Turpin, Sr., her siblings, Marvin Mitchell, Louise Mitchell Toone and A.J. Mitchell and her sons-in-law, Patrick Kiely and Gary Bennett Sheehan.
