John Charles Farrell passed away on Monday, the 24th of September 2018 surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with Glioblastoma. John was born on Tuesday, the 2nd of July 1946 in Chicago, Illinois the son of Dorothy (nee) Schuch and John Farrell. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Diane Courtright.
He is survived by loving and devoted wife of 48 years, Lynn Marguerite Farrell; sons and daughters-in-law, John and Jennifer Farrell, Brian and Amanda Farrell; daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Brandon Nelson; and “Biggie’s” grandchildren, Hannah and Ansley Nelson, Walker and Wyatt Farrell; brother and sister-in-law, Dan and Mary Farrell; brother-in-law, Ken Courtright; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
After graduating from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, John began a 30 year career with IBM which took his family through five states before settling in Dunwoody in 1985.
John was a member of All Saints Catholic Church and Dunwoody Country Club where he served as President from 2007 until 2009. John enjoyed golf, tennis, travel but especially the yearly family beach trip to Kiawah Island, South Carolina.
A memorial mass celebrating his life will be conducted on Friday, the 28th of September at 11:30AM at All Saints Catholic Church, 2443 Mount Vernon Road, Dunwoody, GA 30338. A reception will follow at the church.
