

John “Jack” Gray, 72 of Atlanta, died peacefully of natural causes in his home on January 10, 2016. Born in New York City Jack graduated from Wesleyan University and received his law degree from George Washington University. Jack was recruited by the Powell Goldstein Law Firm in Atlanta and subsequently started his own firm. Most recently, he was with Gray & Garrett Law in Sandy Springs. He was named one of Georgia’s top-rated lawyers for many consecutive years. In his younger days, Jack was an avid and accomplished soccer player. He also enjoyed playing golf at Cherokee Country Club. He was an expert shooter at Burge Plantation in Mansfield. Jack was preceded in death by his father, Charles Gray and daughter, Allison Gray McKenna. He is survived by his son, Chaz Gray; mother, Dena Short; sister and brother-in-law, Nina and Jack Johnson; grandchildren, Tim McKenna and Katie McKenna; and son-in-law, Tom McKenna. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the YMCA-Camp High Harbour, ymcaatlanta.org/giving. A memorial service will be Friday, January 15, 2016 at 2 o’clock at H.M. Patterson and Son, Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Rd., NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328.
