

John Fordham Post, 90, of Atlanta died peacefully on Saturday, May 13, 2017. Lovingly known as "Rooster," "Buddy," or "Paw" to his family and closest friends, John had a generous spirit and a great sense of humor that will be greatly missed. He was born on November 19, 1926 in Asheville, NC to Margery Forster Post and William Earl Post. John is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Mary Barrett Post, and his younger sister, Sarah Garmany. John grew up in Chattanooga, TN and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and The Korean War. A graduate of the University of Chattanooga, John worked in the marketing, printing, and advertising industries. He was an Honorary Life Member of the Elks Lodge for 56 years. During this time, he was the Editor Emeritus of the Georgia Elks News and worked with it for over 40 years. John was a regular at Mary Macs Tea Room, and often volunteered his time to Meals on Wheels and the Elks Aidmore Children's Center. He also was an avid golfer, loved traveling and spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his daughter, Connie Leff (Frank) of Johns Creek, GA; sister, Barbara Stoltz (Hank) of Russellville, AR; brother, William "Moe" Post Jr. (Hazel) of Reidsville, NC; granddaughters, Lindsay Paris (Joel) of Marietta, GA, Natalie Leff of Atlanta, GA; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 18 at 11:00am with visitation following the service at H.M. Patterson & Son - Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Rd. NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328. Interment will follow the visitation at Arlington Memorial Park, 201 Mt. Vernon Hwy. NW, Sandy Springs, GA 30328.
