Jonathan Selman Moore of Sandy Springs, Georgia, age 62, passed away after a long illness on January 17, 2026, in Atlanta. He was born on March 25, 1963, in Madison, Wisconsin. He was known for his kind and generous heart.
Jonathan was a graduate of Riverwood High School in Sandy Springs. He attended Georgia Institute of Technology and graduated from Southern College of Technology in Marietta, Georgia, with a degree in mechanical engineering. He built a successful 37-year career as a machinist at Delta Airlines where he was valued for his dedication, loyalty and exceptional skill level. Beyond his work, he was passionate about restoring WWII Japanese war planes that are displayed at the National Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola, Florida. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing, archery and the shooting disciplines, particularly the silhouettes. He enjoyed nature and being in the woods and had a love of geology. He excelled in all scientific disciplines and continuously developed his faith journey. Jonathan graciously and selflessly volunteered his time and talents to those in need.
He was predeceased by his parents, Merry Selman Moore and Mack Arthur Moore. He is survived by his sister Terri Moore of Sandy Springs as well as several cousins. He is also survived by his partner Lisa Godwin of Free Home, Georgia.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 30, 2026, from 9:30am – 11:00am, followed by a celebration of his life at 11:00am at H.M. Patterson and Son Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Road NE, Sandy Springs.
