

Joseph John Harper, 26, of Atlanta and Savannah, GA died Monday, the 30th of September, 2013 of natural causes. Joseph was raised in Lansing, Michigan and graduated from Lansing Catholic Central High School “Class of 2005” where he was an avid baseball player and fan, playing third base for the Catholic Central Cougars. He went on to graduate from Auburn University with a degree in Business. Auburn is where he transitioned from a northern boy to a true southern gentleman…“War Eagle”! His first love being music, he played drums on the local circuit with the band October Jenkins in Auburn, Alabama. After college he moved to Nashville, Tennessee to chase his music dream. He later moved to Savannah to pursue a graduate degree in Sound Design at Savannah College of Art and Design. He was a 4.0 student, receiving scholarships for both academic and artistic achievements. He will be remembered for his gentle spirit, kind heart, and ever-present sense of humor by all those he touched. Joseph was preceded in death by his grandmother, Alma Joseph. Surviving are his parents Lisa and Jim Hills, sister, Leah (Giovanni) Boccia, brothers Jason (Jena) Hills, Eric Hills, and nephew, Colin Hills. His ‘Papa’; Harry Joseph, Aunts, Cara (Jeff) Oswald and Tina (Joe) Gallante, Cousins, Jeffrey and Kyle Oswald, Coco and Antonio Gallante. A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 3rd from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary recited at 7:30 p.m. at H.M. Patterson & Son Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Road NE, Sandy Springs, Georgia 30328. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, October 4th at 2:00 p.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 4465 Northside Drive NW, Atlanta, Georgia 30327. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Joseph’s memory to the Sound Design department at the Savannah College of Art and Design, Joseph Harper Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 3146, Savannah, Georgia 31402-3146.
