Joy Carlotta Freeman Bayne

Joy Carlotta Freeman Bayne, 86, passed away peacefully at her home in Punta Gorda, Florida on Wednesday, the 5th of August, 2015 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who always went above and beyond to care for those she loved.

Joy was born on Tuesday, the 30th of October, 1928 to the late Loyd Vernon Freeman and Hazel Richardson Freeman, in Hot Springs, Arkansas. She attended college at the University of Arkansas where she met her husband of fifty-six years, Dr. Loui G. Bayne who preceded her in death. They raised three daughters in Atlanta before retiring in Punta Gorda, Florida. Joy loved to paint, write, sew and work in her garden, but most importantly she was a God-fearing, selfless woman who had a heart to serve and loved her family and friends very much. Although she will be greatly missed by her survivors, her faith in Jesus Christ gives us comfort that she is truly resting in perfect peace.

Joy is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Robin Bayne and Mark Katz of Punta Gorda, FL; Joy Gayle Reider and Ric Reider of Atlanta and Bridgette Tomlinson and Elwyn C. Tomlinson, Jr. of Atlanta and her granddaughters, Megan Leigh Tomlinson and Holly Bayne Tomlinson.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family Tuesday, the 11th of August from six until eight o’clock in the evening at H. M. Patterson & Son Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Road, NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, the 12th of August at two o’clock in the afternoon in the Chapel of The Church of The Apostles, 3585 Northside Parkway, NW, Atlanta, GA 30327 with Reverend Stan Carder, Director of Congregational Care officiating. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park.
