Born on October 31, 1941 in Wichita, KS, Judy was married to Jerry DeVore for 58 years. They met at Wichita State University and lived a life that took them to Hartford, CT; Cleveland, OH; St. Louis, MO; Baton Rouge, LA and finally Marietta, Ga. From the earliest days of their marriage, Judy performed the one job she cherished more than any other, that of a homemaker to their family.
Judy had love of the outdoors and animals of all kinds. In her youth she loved archery and over time developed a love for tennis. She always had pets, dogs and cats and when her children were young the occasional turtle, rabbit and hermit crab! Her love of animals extended to her passion to support organizations devoted to preserving wildlife, specifically African Elephants and Rhinos. In her later years, Judy found her greatest joy in keeping up with all the activities in the lives of her 2 children and 5 grandchildren.
Judy is survived by her husband, Jerry DeVore; son Darren DeVore, daughter-in-law Pam DeVore; daughter Darcy Mooney, son-in-law Tim Mooney; grandchildren, Brooke and Addy DeVore, Michael, Conner and Taylor Mooney; and sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Jerry Probst. The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 11, 2019 beginning at 12:00 p.m. and the funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. at Mount Bethel United Methodist Church, 4385 Lower Roswell Rd., Marietta, GA 30068.
