Julio Enrique Ponce, 87 of Forest Park, died October 8, 2022. Enrique is survived by his son, Barbaro Ponce; daughter, Lisbet Canteli (Manuel); grandsons, Christopher (Mandy) and Manuel Canteli; great grandson, Daniel Canteli; and extended family.
In 1972, Enrique came to the United States with his family from his home country of Cuba. He worked as a general contractor for 30 years, but still liked to tinker around the house. He loved listening to music on his record player that he got at the local flea market, “because the music sounds better”. Even as a Lymphoma survivor (2015), you could still catch him fixing his cars while listening to Julio Iglesias after cutting the grass.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Lymphoma Research Foundation. A Memorial Mass will be Saturday, November 5, 2022 at 2 o’clock at The Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, 353 Peachtree St., NE, Atlanta, GA 30303. A celebration of life will follow the mass at 4 o’clock at his son Barbaro’s residence.
