Kaethe Solomon, 89, passed away peacefully on Feb. 19, 2024, after a short illness.
She was born in Grebenau, Germany to the late Selma and David Jacobs. She immigrated to the United States during World War II at age 3, with parents and her sister, Inge. They settled on the Grand Concourse in the Bronx, N.Y., where she lived until moved to Cleveland, Ohio, in 1957 when she married the love of her life, Archie Solomon.
Kaethe graduated from Hunter College with a degree in physical education and completed her master’s at Case Western in Ohio. Her proudest accomplishment were her six children Harold (Lori), Lisa, Susan, Wendy (Yaron), Mark, and Jonathan (Deborah).
Once the family relocated to Atlanta, Ga. in 1970, Kaethe quickly became immersed in Ahavath Achim Congregation, volunteer activities (interviewing survivors for Emory’s Witness to the Holocaust and as a docent for the Anne Frank Exhibit in Sandy
Springs), and a regular at tennis courts throughout Sandy Springs.
She is also survived by her sister, many nieces and nephews, and her eight grandchildren: Daniel, Rachel, Eitan, Jordan, Ben, Mira, Kate, and Frances.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Jewish Family & Career Services (jfcsatl.org) or the Dorothy C. Benson Senior Center (bensoncenter.org).
