LaVerne “Larry” H. Squires, passed away on August 30, 2018, at the age of 82. A native of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, he graduated from Regis High School in 1953. From 1955 – 1958, he served in the United States Army 82nd Airborne Division in Fort Bragg, North Carolina and in the Army National Guard until 1961. In 1958, he moved to the Atlanta area and began a lifelong career in sales. In 1967 he formed Larry Squires & Associates. This was later expanded to become Squires & Valduga, where a successful business partnership was formed. Together, Squires & Valduga emerged as a leading manufacturers representative firm in Georgia through the early 1990's. Towards the end of his career, Larry joined forces with Repco Sales of Georgia and continued his career in sales until his retirement in 2010. He found joy throughout his life in tending to his beloved rose garden, taking weekend escapes to his mountain home in Big Canoe, GA, and playing golf with his friends and business associates. He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Carol Ann Patterson Squires, daughters Susan O’Connor and Laurie Miller, son Alan (Anniece) Squires, step-daughter Mindy Weiss, 8 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. A celebration of Larry’s life will be held at 2:30pm on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at H.M. Patterson & Son Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Road NE, Sandy Springs, Georgia. The family will receive visitors beginning at 1:00pm prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Larry to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org).
