

Luther P. Burroughs, 97 a native of Atlanta, died February 24, 2015. He was a graduate of Fulton High School. He then studied marketing at Georgia State University where he was a member of the Delta Sigma Pi Business Fraternity. He was also a member of the Masonic Society where he attained lifetime status. Luther served his country with honor as a First Lieutenant in the Army Air Corps as a pilot of the B-17 aircraft. He worked at Exide Battery Company where he was a regional manager until retirement. He was one of the oldest members of Ansley Country Club where he enjoyed his favorite past time of playing golf. His other hobbies included gardening, reading, and solving crossword puzzles. He was also a member of Sandy Springs United Methodist Church for 59 years. He will be remembered as an extraordinary loving and kind spirit that made a lasting impression to all of those who knew him. He was deeply loved and will be sadly missed. Mr. Burroughs was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Dorothy L. Burroughs and is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Louise Burroughs; daughters and sons-in-law, Corrie and Richard Buckley, Andrea and Jerry Loudermilk; granddaughters, Heather Ascenzo, Jennifer Hopcraft, Abby Butler, Katie Pederson; 10 great grandchildren; brother, Thomas Burroughs; and sisters, Jeannette Martin, and Jerri Wright. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Sandy Springs United Methodist Memorial Funds. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 2 o’clock with the family receiving friends beginning at 1 o’clock at H.M. Patterson and Son, Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Rd., NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328 with Dr. Ken Ray officiating. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park.
