Funeral Mass for Malford John Fagan, Sr. ,“Mal”, age 66, will be held on Monday, March 19, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at All Saints Catholic Church, 2443 Mount Vernon Road, Dunwoody, Georgia, followed by burial at Arlington Memorial Park, 201 Mount Vernon Highway, Sandy Springs, GA. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm on Sunday, March 18, at H.M. Patterson & Son Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Road NE, Sandy Springs, GA.
Mr. Fagan died at his home on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born April 11, 1951, in Providence, Rhode Island, Mr. Fagan was the son of the late Dr. Maurice J. Fagan, Jr. and Ruth Pearl MacDonald Fagan. He attended Christ the King School and graduated from St. Pius X Catholic High School in Atlanta. While in school, Mr. Fagan earned the Eagle Scout Award. He graduated from Georgia State University (Bachelor of Business Administration/Finance) where he was a member and past President of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. Mr. Fagan earned the Juris Doctorate degree from the Atlanta Law School, and was a member of the Georgia State Bar.
Mr. Fagan worked for 45 years in Atlanta in the financial services industry for various firms including Dominick & Dominick, Smith Barney, Smith Barney/Shearson, Prudential Securities, Morgan Keegan, Regions/Morgan Keegan Financial Services, Regions Investment Services, and Cape Securities, Inc. Mr. Fagan served in a variety of capacities as Financial Advisor, Branch Manager, Senior Vice President, and Regional Manager/Financial Services Director. His professional associations included serving as past President of the Retail Securities Brokers of Georgia, past Board member of the Georgia Securities Association, and past several times recipient of Atlanta Magazine’s award of Five Star Wealth Manager.
Mr. Fagan dedicated many hours to community service through his children’s schools and activities. He served as Advisory Board member/Finance Committee of Our Lady of the Assumption School, Executive Board Member of the Norcross High School Foundation, and Little League coach for over 10 years.
Mr. Fagan was a member of Capital City Club in Atlanta where he enjoyed many years of golfing and friendships. He was an avid University of Alabama football fan.
Mr. Fagan was devoted to his family and will be greatly missed. Surviving are his wife, Madeline Warren Fagan; son, Malford John Fagan, Jr. “Jack”, and daughter, Helen Godbold Fagan. In addition, he is survived by brothers Dr. Jim Fagan(Betty), Mark Fagan (Sue), and Mitchell Fagan (Kelly) ; sisters Laurie Fagan Sikes and Margo Fagan Kennedy (Tim); nieces: Michelle Mize (Tyler), Diana Fagan, Erin Milone (Steve), Katie Fagan, Molly Frizzell (Sean), Chrissie Sikes, Mackenzie Kennedy and Larkin Dobson (John); nephews: Jay Fagan (Meg) , Patrick Fagan (Rachel), Graham Kennedy, Forrest Kennedy and John Warren Floyd (Nealie); grandnieces: Charlotte Scott, Eva Milone, Lily Milone, Claire Milone, Kara Frizzell; and grandnephews: Lewis Fagan, Emmett Fagan, Jake Mize, Carter Milone, Isaiah Mercado, and Liam Frizzell.
Mr. Fagan was a member of All Saints Catholic Church in Atlanta.
