The love you have for your Mother has a separate place in your heart unlike any other.
Our family is overwhelmed with grief and heartbreak but we are also feeling the many blessing that God has bestowed upon us. He has blessed our Mother with a long, wonderful life and a peaceful and beautiful passing. Mom was 86 years young, lived by herself, and never needed home care. On the night of July 1st, she got ready for bedtime like every other night. She went to sleep in her bed and woke up later… next to the husband she had been desperately missing for the last 8 years. The Good Lord granted our Mother what she had prayed for. A peaceful death at the end of her life in Roswell before entering into her eternal home in Heaven.
Margaret Estelle Semoshyn was born in 1937 to a Ukranian immigrant and a NYC seamstress. She was an only child and “Daddy’s little girl”. A small town named Bound Brook in central New Jersey is where she was born and where she would meet the love of her life, at The First National Bank of Central Jersey, where she and Dad were both employed. From the stories she has shared, she kind of played “hard to get” in the beginning, but fate had their ending to be of everlasting love. They married in 1962 and raised their three children in the same town Mom grew up in. She was a stay-at-home wonderful Mom and juggled all the craziness that came with having three children, all 3 babies in 5 years. She instilled in us the importance of Family. She was an exceptional Mom, she never let us skip a Sunday mass, even when we went to Disney World! She was always involved in anything her children were involved in. Sports, Girl and Boy Scouts, The PTA, I can’t name them all, she was involved in all her children were involved in. Anything important to us, was even more important to her. Mom always put her family first There were always home-cooked meals with all 5 of us at the table. And she ironed bed sheets! We were one of the first families to walk through the gates of Disney World and we returned a few times after that. We lived 40 miles from NYC and have endless memories driving into Manhattan, walking and shopping down 5th Avenue, visiting Museums, having lunches at B Altman’s, going to Mets and Yankees games and so much more. We spent almost every summer weekend on the Jersey Shore. Mom made sure we were all together as a family for every holiday, birthday, and Anniversary. When we were in High School Mom went back to work at United National Bank in Plainfield, Nj where she managed Trust accounts. She had a successful second career there and was loved by the people she worked with. She did it all. Mom always looked great. She was beautiful and styled herself in the likes of Jackie O and Audrey Hepburn. As she aged, she never looked her age.
Our parents were fortunate to have retired early and in 1992 moved to Roswell to be near their children. They were active Seniors for many, many years.
Mom was most happy when she was with her family. God granted her a long and ever-lasting love with Bill - they were the loves of their lives. She was his everything. Dad passed away 8 years ago and we saw our mother’s heart break before our eyes. My sister, brother, and I took Mom under our wings and never let go. She was an independent woman. Mom was smart, generous, sharp as a tack, whitty, rarely “sugar-coated” anything, and gave you her opinion, even if you didn’t want it.
She was a doting Grandmother to her first Granddaughter, Hanna, and a second Grandson, Nicholas. She loved watching Hanna play soccer and couldn’t get enough of NIck’s baseball and basketball games. Mom recently attended the college graduation of her Granddaughter Hanna and was beaming with pride. Gregg introduced Mom to Soccer and Tennis and she was a Super Fan for several teams and players. She had every sports channel available and anytime you went over to Mom’s there was always some type of sports game on.
Mom always gave her sons-in-law Todd and Billy a hard time - and I think they secretly adored her more for it.
She was always up for traveling. The beaches of Hilton Head, Charleston, and the Florida Panhandle gave us all wonderful memories. I can picture her sitting in her chair, either next to a pool or on the beach, reading a book and watching the seagulls. Mom enjoyed all kinds of cuisine and the full experience of dining out. Her ultimate favorite though, was greasy, NY-style pizza.
All she ever wanted was for her children to be healthy and happy. Mom and Dad gave us everything they possibly could - sacrifices we didn’t understand until we were adults and parents ourselves.
Our cherished memories are embedded in our hearts forever.
Mom was so fun to be around - and I think we all just didn’t want the fun to ever end. I believe our mom loved us more than she loved herself.
Mom will be laid to rest in a gorgeous park within Arlington Estates next to her husband of 54 years, the love of her life, that she had been missing for the last 8 years. They will forever be “Always Together”. She now has the “same rainbows end” that she and Dad always dreamed about.
Until we meet again…enjoy the Italian Feasts in Heaven, overindulge in the most decadent chocolates you’ve ever had, stay up all night watching your favorite sports teams, relax with your books on the gorgeous beaches, where you’ll watch the seagulls and pelicans soar and witness the most magnificent sunsets. Enjoy every beautiful dance with Dad, with the sweet serenade of ‘ Moon River’ playing forever in the background.
When we meet again, it will be forever. Our love and bond have no end. We will miss you more than words can say.
May your memory be eternal.
With Love,
Your Children
