Marianna Stanislawa Grochowska, affectionately known as Marysia to her family and friends, passed away peacefully at home in Atlanta, Georgia on Divine Mercy Sunday, April 27, 2025. She was 88 years old and surrounded by her loved ones in her final moments.
Born in Poland on April 14, 1937, to Marianna and Stanislaw Jankiewicz, Marianna was the youngest daughter in a family of eight children. From an early age, she was known for her ambition and intellect, particularly her aptitude for mathematics. She pursued higher education in Kraków, where she earned a Master’s Degree in Finance and Business Affairs. Marianna went on to serve as the Chief Financial Officer of a heavy machinery manufacturing company for over two decades—a role that exemplified her brilliance, leadership, and work ethic.
Marianna is survived by her beloved daughter, Beata, and her cherished granddaughter, Karolina. The bond between the three was extraordinary, rooted in love, tradition, and time spent together—especially during the summers Karolina spent with her grandmother in Poland. Whether traveling, cooking family recipes, or simply enjoying each other’s company, Marianna created a legacy of deep connection and joy.
A woman of many passions, Marianna found joy in gardening, sewing, solving puzzles, and caring for animals. She shared a particularly special bond with the family dog, Kaia, who she helped raise from a puppy. Marianna and Kaia were wonderful companions—she lovingly cooked for Kaia, spoiled her with affection, and spent many peaceful hours outside by her side. Even in her final days, Marianna’s heart remained focused on those she cared for, asking after Kaia’s well-being with tenderness and concern.
A devout Catholic, Marianna lived her life in deep faith. She prayed daily and faithfully attended Mass every Sunday, including her final Easter celebration at the Cathedral of Christ the King. Her spiritual life was deeply inspired by her favorite saints, St. Pope John Paul II and St. Faustina, and it is fitting that she passed on Divine Mercy Sunday.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, May 5, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at All Saints Catholic Church. A reception will follow from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. at H.M. Patterson & Sons Funeral Home. Flowers may be sent to the funeral home.
Marianna will be remembered for her strength, grace, intellect, and unwavering love for her family. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
