Marilyn Herndon Vance, 84, of Baxley, GA and formerly of Atlanta, GA, died May 14, 2011. Mrs. Vance was a member of North Avenue Presbyterian Church in Atlanta and attended the Friendship Sunday School Class in Baxley. She was an active member of DAR, the National Garden Club, Capital City Club, and the Atlanta Women’s Club. Mrs. Vance was preceded in death by her husband, Robert B. Vance and son, Patrick Vance. She is survived by her son, Samuel Herndon Vance and his wife, Ann; step-daughter, Harriet Vanhooser; granddaughter, Courtney Biro; great grandson, Elijah Biro; sisters, Bonnie Pickren, Collene Tippens; several nieces, nephews, and extended family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Tamassee DAR School. A memorial service will be at the graveside at Arlington Memorial Park on Thursday, May 26, 2011 at 1 o’clock with Dr. Scott Weimer officiating.
