Marilynn graduated from St. Norbert College (BA, 1973) and earned an Associate of the Arts in Interior Design (1975). Her career in hospitality design and sales spanned decades: showroom manager at Pierce Martin in Atlanta (1982–2006), FF&E specification writer for Design Continuum (2006), and founder/principal of Spec Solutions beginning in 2009, where she represented top manufacturers of furniture, lighting, and fabrics. A long-time member of NEWH, Marilynn was known for her deep industry knowledge, professionalism, and mentorship.
Her passion for hospitality began early, when she took a summer job at Disney World in 1973, and continued to be her passion throughout her life. Outside of work she loved skiing (former ski patrol member and instructor), later became an avid golfer, and enjoyed entertaining and trivia nights with friends.
In 2001 Marilynn faced lung cancer and underwent partial lung removal in 2002; she beat cancer and lived cancer-free for the rest of her life, inspiring others with her story. She will be greatly missed by clients, partners, and friends across the hospitality community.
One thing Marilynn cherished in life was friendship. She had many close friends and managed to keep up with them all, no matter how far away they were. Many of her close friends were with her as she passed. She will be missed.
A celebration of life is being planned. Please check back for details.
