Marissa Michelle Munroe, a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend passed away on May 27, 2025. Born January 29, 1987 in Passaic, New Jersey, Marissa's life was a testament to love, family, and perseverance.
Marissa was a woman of quiet strength, deep love, and an enduring spirit that graced Savannah and communities north of Atlanta where she made her home. Her academic achievements–degrees from Georgia State University and a masters degree from the University of Georgia–were a reflection of her lifelong love for learning, a passion she shared alongside her enjoyment of books, movies, and travel.
Yet, the truest reflection of Marissa's heart was seen in her relationships. She was a thoughtful friend and a cherished family member, always happiest when surrounded by those she loved. Her two children were her world, the undeniable focus of her deepest affection and devotion. In her battle with cancer, she showed her children how to face adversity with dignity, bravery, and strength. In doing so, she ensured her life's narrative was one of courage, love, and unwavering resilience.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Hunter Munroe, and their beloved children, Lydia and Harrison. She is also remembered with love by her mother, Yvonne Sukovich; her father and stepmother, John and Lynn Sukovich; her sister, Cristina Arndt; her brother, Steven Sukovich; and many extended family members and friends.
A viewing will be held on June 6, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at H.M. Patterson & Son – Arlington Chapel in Sandy Springs, with a funeral service and remembrance gathering to follow.
