Mary Ann Cain Scogin, 88 of Sandy Springs, died September 10, 2021. Mrs. Scogin was a 1952 graduate from the University of Georgia. After college, she taught first grade at Sylvan Hills Elementary School. She married William “Pete” Scogin in 1955 and started their family. Mrs. Scogin was also a long-time member of St. John United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Fellowship Bible Class. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Pete in 2014 and is survived by her daughters, Suzanne Clegg (Randy), Laurie Scogin, Amanda Kirk (Bruce); grandchildren, Katie Leverett (Alec), Emily Clegg, William Clegg, Wilson Kirk, Alex Kirk, Luke Kirk, Blake Hall; and great grandchildren, Wren and Oliver Leverett. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. John United Methodist Church, 550 Mount Paran Rd., NW, Atlanta, GA 30327. The family will receive friends Monday, September 20, 2021 from 6 to 8 o’clock at H.M. Patterson and Son, Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Rd., Sandy Springs, GA 30328. Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at 1 o’clock at St. John United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park.
