Mary “Marianne” Lynch Light, 85, of Atlanta, GA, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2016. Marianne grew up on East Wesley Road in Buckhead, the second of three daughters and two sons born to Charles and Catherine Lynch. She married Bill Light in 1947. When Bill died suddenly in 1966, the loss broke her heart but she never stopped loving him. Now, Marianne and her Bill are reunited for eternity in Heaven. Marianne and Bill had two sons, Mike and Pat. She was a woman of quiet courage and strength who, as a single, working mom, did an incredible job of providing for and raising her sons. She loved her boys dearly and never stopped talking about them. She owned Act I Costumes, and was known throughout Atlanta’s theatrical, entertainment and business communities as the sweet and talented lady who costumed everyone from Halloween partiers to actors and celebrities. She was especially proud of the dozens of mascots that she created for radio stations and professional sports teams throughout the country. After Marianne retired, she moved to Cathedral Towers in Buckhead, where she was the undisputed queen of the afternoon coffee club. The Light family wishes to thank her many friends and the staff at Cathedral Towers who helped to make her life happy and fulfilled. We’re also grateful to Jeannette Polo, who provided care for Marianne and whose dedication and love for her will always be remembered. We also appreciate the kindness of the staff of NurseCare of Buckhead and the wonderful people from Crossroads Hospice who provided her with love and comfort during her last days. Marianne is survived by her sons, Mike and his wife, Tracy, of Braselton, GA; and Patrick, of Atlanta. Funeral arrangements are by H.M. Patterson and Son Arlington Chapel, and she will be laid to rest next to her beloved Bill in a private burial at Arlington Memorial Park in Sandy Springs, GA. At a later date, Mike and Tracy will invite her many friends to gather at Cathedral Towers and celebrate her life. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her name to the Atlanta Community Food Bank, 732 Joseph E. Lowery Blvd., NW, Atlanta, GA 30318, or online www.acfb.org.
