Mary Ellen Peterson was a loving mother, grandmother, wife, sister, and friend. She openly shared her warmth and companionship with everyone she met and delighted in caring for others. She passed peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, November 27, 2022 at her home in Sandy Springs, GA.
Mary was born to Barbara and William Dwyer in Chicago on May 27, 1955. She graduated from Western Illinois University in 1978 and married David Peterson in 1980. As an adult, Mary lived in St Louis, MO., Ledyard, CT., and Ames, IA. Mary loved children and worked as a teacher before devoting her life to raising three of her own. In her later years, she relished being MeMe to her three grandchildren.
Mary had a sharp eye for color and beauty in the world. She enjoyed baking, reading, crafting, caring for plants, and planning activities for her kids and grandkids. Mary held deep faith in God and prayed for everyone in her life. She is survived by her husband, David Peterson, children Breanna (Matthew) Lathrop, Karl Peterson, and Colin Peterson, and grandchildren Porter, Micah, and Selah Lathrop. We are so deeply grateful to have shared life with Mary. Her light continues to radiate in this world; we will cherish it and celebrate her forever
