Mary Collier Bullock Sugg (“Collie”), age 78, of Sandy Springs, peacefully passed away on November 4, 2022. Collie was an angel on earth. She was born in Tulare, California and grew up in Jackson, Mississippi. After graduating from the Mississippi University for Women in 1966, Collie moved to Cocoa Beach, Florida. Several years later, she moved to Atlanta, where she met her loving husband, Bill. Collie taught elementary school at Mount Vernon Presbyterian School for decades and was an active member of Wieuca Road Baptist Church for more than 40 years where she served as a Deacon.
Collie was a devout Christian and incredibly devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She proudly raised two boys and was blessed with six granddaughters, who were the joys of her life and lovingly called her “CC”. She enjoyed reading, music, going to movies, cheering on Ole Miss football, and travelling with her family and friends. She also enjoyed giving unexpected presents, which she affectionately called “Happies”, to kick off holidays, spoil grandchildren, or just to brighten someone’s day - a tradition that will live on!
Collie was the sweetest person in the world. She lived with the highest moral standards and steadfast faith. She always put others before herself, and showered others with hugs, kindness, positivity, and love. She radiated warmth, joy, and kindness with her soft smile and sparkle in her eyes.
Collie was principled but nonjudgmental, gentle but tough, and often laughed until she cried. She was the first to help others and the first to celebrate her loved ones’ joys and comfort them in hard times.
Love was, and will always be, the essence of Collie. She will be with us forever, and as Collie would often say, “Love you bunches!”
Collie is preceded in death by her husband, Bill, of 35 years, and her brother, Bob Bullock. She is survived by her son and daughter in law, William and Jessica Sugg of Roswell; her son and daughter in law, John and Allison Sugg of Sandy Springs; her six granddaughters: Avery, Adler, Emerson, Julia, Olivia, and Collier; her sister, Pat Williams; and her best friend, JoEllen Smith. A celebration of Collie’s life will be held at 11 o'clock, Monday, November 14, 2022, at the Church at Wieuca in the Sanctuary, 3626 Peachtree Road, N.E., Atlanta, GA, 30326. Before the service, the family will receive friends at 10 o’clock in the Heritage Room at the Church at Wieuca. After the service, interment will be at Arlington Memorial Park, Sandy Springs, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Church at Wieuca in memory of Collie Sugg.
