first graduating class of Cross Keys High School, graduating with honors. That same summer, she married her high school sweetheart, Max Wright, and 2 years later their daughter, Connie Lynn, was born. Shortly after Connie’s birth, Max was transferred for the first time. And, spent the next 20 years relocating about every other year as her husband climbed the corporate ladder.
When their daughter married in 1984, she and her husband moved to Dallas, Texas, where Kay became active in politics. She did volunteer work for various candidates and served on the board of Bent Tree Republican Women’s Club in multiple positions including president. Kay was elected as a precinct chairman in Collin County near Dallas and served as a clerk or judge in numerous elections. She also did volunteer work at her church and served on the board of several homeowners associations.
Before being widowed, Max & Kay were married for 64 years. Kay is survived by her sister, Jeanne Gilliland; her daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Mike Kirkpatrick; and 3 granddaughters- Shannon and Heather Johnson and Mary Acosta.
A memorial service will be held on January 17, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at H.M. Patterson & Son-Arlington Chapel, located at 173 Allen Road NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328, United States.
Following the memorial service, a reception will take place at the same venue from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
