Mason was born on September 10th, 2002 in Atlanta ,Georgia. He attended Mount Vernon Presbyterian School, and in 2019, he spent a year at New Summit Academy in Costa Rica. It was there that he met the young men that would become and remain some of his closest friends. He graduated from Capstone Academy in 2021 and went on to pursue his love of music at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. He found so many of “his people” there. It was while studying at Belmont that his love for all aspects of creating music was cultivated.
Mason was most at home in the outdoors, and in 2023 he spent several months in Yosemite National Park living, working, climbing, hiking and playing music. He found his peace there, and these were some of his happiest days.
Mason was truly one of a kind. He was unapologetically himself, and he made everyone around him smile. A music lover at heart, he spent endless hours playing his guitar and cultivating playlists. Music was his love language.
He was always dressed in his own unmistakable style and had a way of making people feel welcomed, accepted and loved just by being himself.
Mason King will be remembered for his giant heart, his empathy, his quick humor, his music, his playlists and his style, but most of all for his soft and curious soul.
He is deeply loved and survived by his parents Paul and Kellee King of Sandy Springs, GA; sister Georgia Canipe of Macon Ga (Michael); niece Kinsley Canipe; nephews Henry and Reynolds Canipe; sister Cannon Wheatcroft-Lee (James); his grandparents Roy and Donna Cannon of Valdosta, Ga; aunt Shelley Ingram (Tommy) of Suches, Ga; and uncle Gary Cannon (Tracy) of Valdosta, Ga.
A funeral service will be held at Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church, 471 Mount Vernon Hwy NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328, on July 9, 2026, at 2:00 PM.
We would like to honor Mason’ s love of bright colors and patterns at his service. Please come dressed in a way that brings you joy.
