Patti had an impactful and successful legal career. She graduated from Emory Law School in 1980 and worked for the Office of Chief Counsel, Internal Revenue Service in Washington, DC and then for the law firm of Fulbright & Jaworski in Houston Texas. Patti founded the Benefits Law Group – a boutique employee benefits law firm in Atlanta. In her own words, “I started Benefits Law Group to provide a flexible work environment to allow lawyers with families a more balanced lifestyle while maintaining a high-level legal practice. While it was very challenging breaking new ground, we have thrived over the years, have very loyal clients and have a high level of satisfaction with our work.”
She was a dedicated leader in the area of benefits law and enjoyed mentoring young attorneys. Among her many achievements, she was president of several professional organizations, including the Southern Employee Benefits Conference and Women in Pensions.
Patti knew the importance of forging strong friendships and was truly loved by her friends, yoga community and family. Her knowledge was a wonderful resource that she gladly and generously shared. This lady was a warrior and amazing person – kind, loving, strong, dependable, adventurous, fearless, optimistic, wise, honest, and thoughtful.
Patti was a loving wife and mother. She is survived by her husband William (Bill) Murphy, their son, Sean Murphy, her brother, Rick Keesler and 4 nephews. The family enjoyed many years of sharing precious moments, traveling and creating fun adventures at home and in various countries.
