Patrick Owen Kane

Pat was born in Atlanta, Georgia, at Fort McPherson on January 18, 1949. He attended Brown High School in Atlanta and later earned a bachelor’s degree from Georgia State University.

Pat spent his career with Robinson-Humphrey (now SunTrust) in Atlanta, beginning in the mailroom and ultimately retiring as an OTC trader, occasionally traveling to work on the floor of the NYSE. In retirement, he was always ready for a drive, no matter the distance. He spent his time crisscrossing the country visiting family and friends, never missing an opportunity to make new ones along the way. He loved his family and friends beyond measure and treasured the lasting relationships that brought him so much joy throughout his life.

Pat enjoyed daily walks in nature and was widely known for the inspirational messages he shared on social media each day. He remained actively involved with school and professional organizations and faithfully kept in touch with friends from childhood throughout his life. He often said that he never knew any strangers, only “friends he hadn’t met yet,” a phrase that perfectly reflected his welcoming spirit and genuine interest in others.

Generous with his time and talents, Pat was a dedicated volunteer who was always willing to lend a helping hand to his community, friends, and family. He supported numerous community organizations in a hands-on way and could always be counted on when someone needed assistance. His kindness, optimism and signature grin will be deeply missed, but the friendships he nurtured and the lives he touched will remain his enduring legacy.

Pat is survived by his brothers, Tommy Kane (Barbara), Mike Kane (Phyllis), Terry Kane; his children, Stephanie Kane Jackels (Scott), Paul A Kane, Melinda “Mindy” J Kane; his beloved grandchildren, Kelsie Kane, daughter of Paul, Ethan and Colin Jackels, sons of Stephanie and Scott; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members, all of whom he cherished dearly.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a church that was meaningful to Pat throughout his life:
