Patrick Ralph MONACO
July 10, 1937 – November 5, 2019
Patrick Ralph Monaco of Smyrna came into this world on July 10, 1937, and after a sudden illness he passed away on November 5, 2019. Pat enjoyed life’s journey as well as the people and the experiences he encountered along the way. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Patsy Monaco and Mary Blasting Monaco. Upon graduation from Syracuse University in 1959, Pat served as a lieutenant in the United States Air Force for three years and an additional five years as a captain in the Air Force Reserves. After serving his country, he pursued an ever expanding career in sales and business management that began in New York, led him to work in Washington D.C. and at times took him to Japan. In 1988 he was promoted to District Manager in Atlanta and later retired here in 1991. Pat enjoyed Atlanta and the south and made this his home. Patrick is survived by his companion and soul mate for many years, Elaine Paris Winkler, her family and numerous friends. Pat was an avid golfer and a competitive bridge player. He was a sports enthusiast and rooted for his favorite teams, the University of Georgia, the Atlanta Braves and the Atlanta Falcons. He was also a great entertainer. He viewed cooking as an art and wanted his friends to enjoy a culinary adventure. Pat had a great sense of humor and was known for telling a good joke. Patrick Monaco will be missed by the many who loved him. A celebration of life has been planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
