We were very saddened to hear of Ralph’s passing. We’ve thought of our dear Athens neighbors thru the years, knowing how he loved you, Sandra & Traci,  & was now enjoying precious time with you & the grandchildren.  Hugs to each of you as you go forward without kind, dear Ralph. You will be in our thoughts & prayers. May God give you peace & comfort.


Dear Traci, Dear Mrs Gentry, 

The service was beautiful and brought back many wonderful memories of Mr Gentry and your whole family during our epoch times together in Athens. 

All of you never failed to make all the Glickmans feel always welcome and loved. We also never spent five minutes in your company without having a good belly laugh. 

Mr Gentry was one of the kindest and most good-hearted individuals I have ever met. His soft-spoken and understated humor, along with his whimsical smile, that Traci carries on, will never be forgotten.

We, the Glickmans, were honored to have known Ralph, Sandra, Traci, and Lori over all those early years and how much fun it was to share our families together, Traci with Jennifer and Lori with Rachel.
Parenting all the sleepovers and school events between our families was a continual delight.

 Ralph was such a caring and wonderful man who cherished his family and friends. We watched the live stream service and were so very touched  by the memories

Ralph was a very special person, a gentle soul. He reminded me of my father whom I lost 20 years ago. We meet very few people in our lives who touch us with such kindness and generosity. Ralph always put others first. He dearly loved his family, and it showed in every way. This world lost a wonderful man. Ralph will surely be missed.

Ralph was one of the kindest people I ever knew.  A gentleman in every sense of the word.  It was a real honor to know Ralph and to have him as a part of our family. He will never be forgotten. May God be with Sandra and Traci at this time and help ease their grief.

Ralph was a dear family friend of many years. Fond memories of camping trips, concerts, pranks, visits, conversations, and laughter are treasures when thinking of times spent with Ralph and Sandra. He will be remembered for his wisdom, kindness, generosity, dry sense of humor, wit, and as a great storyteller. Ralph’s example for dedication to family and friends was an inspiration. It was a privilege to be his friend. 

There are moments in life that are just plain hard and saying goodbye to one who has brought so much joy into our lives qualifies as one of those hard times.  I am honored that Ralph has been a part of my family for the last several decades. Ralph had a genuine goodness about him and an authentic desire to connect with those he met in life.  My heart will always remember him as an intelligent, sweet, funny and caring man, who put family first. While my heart breaks for those closest to him, I am reminded that all the tears that fall today are on this side of Heaven.  In the midst of our grief, there is much to celebrate! It may sound trite, but in Ralph's case it is true, the world was a better place with you in it.  And I am better for having known you.  Until we meet again dear cousin, rest easy. Among the many memories I have of Ralph as the good and kind and steady person he was - as a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend - the strongest is his love and care of his daughters. He was an active presence in their lives, as strong as Sandra as their mother, and they were partners together in their parenting. It is rare and wonderful to see such connections.

Ralph is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Sandra Gigoux Gentry, and cherished daughter Traci Gentry Simmons (Brian);
grandson Connor Gentry Simmons and granddaughter Reilly Michelle Simmons of Marietta, GA; brother Dwight Gentry (Joyce) of Sulligent, AL; brother Barry Gentry of Pontotoc, MS; nephews Jacob Gentry (Amanda) of Pontotoc, MS: Ben Gentry of Pontotoc, MS and Tyler Stout (Kari) of Jackson, MS; nieces Pam Lemons (Graham) of Pontotoc, MS; Beth Sullivan (Jason) of Pontotoc, MS: Shani Cincotti (Matt) of Boston, MA.; sister-in-law Judi Gentry of Pontotoc, MS; brother-in-law Rex Cochran of Baton Rouge, LA and many cousins, great nieces, great nephews and a host of friends.
