Rayford Eugene McPherson was born on December 19th, 1928, and passed away peacefully at his home on February 4th at the age of 96. He is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Millie McPherson, and their three children and spouses.
Jim and Holly McPherson, Mike and Cindi Pannullo, and Matt and Lori Curl. Ray also leaves behind 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren who will cherish his memory. He will always be remembered as Papa.
Ray was born in Cartersville, Georgia, and spent his entire life in the Atlanta area. He proudly served in the Navy, enlisting in August 1950 and dedicating over four years of service to his country.
In March of 1955, Ray married the love of his life, Millie, and together they would have celebrated their 70th anniversary this year. In 1968, he founded McPherson Construction, a successful venture that made a significant impact in the Atlanta area. One of his proudest achievements was building the family home where he lived for 57 years.
An artist at heart, Ray created over 25 paintings, many of which adorn the walls of his home and those of his children. He often signed his works with the playful moniker “Monet by Ray,” showcasing his unique artistic flair.
Ray’s unwavering love for his family and deep faith in God were the cornerstones of his life. His faith never wavered, and he professed his love for his family and God until he could no longer speak with his earthly voice. He will be profoundly missed by his family every day.
