Robert was born on October 8, 1944 in Hartford, Connecticut to parents John J. Conners and Florence E. Conners, and was the younger brother of John Conners. He was a proud graduate of Pemberton High School where he played football and basketball. He was drafted out of high school by the Dodgers but, after discussion with his father, chose to bypass baseball and attend CW Post College in Brookville, NY.
Robert proudly served in the Military as an Army Ranger where he served 2 tours in Vietnam. He was awarded the Purple Heart Medal for his courage and sacrifice.
Robert married Anne Rowan Evans, of Chester, Virginia on February 4, 1971. Together they had 2 children, Robert Rowan Conners born in Colorado Springs, Co on June 1, 1973, and Rebecca Stuart Conners born in Buffalo Grove, IL on July 23, 1979. He also has a daughter in law, Sarah Conners, and son in law, Wesley Neece. His pride and joy are his 4 grandchildren: Bennett Conners 17, Reese Conners 15, Rowan Neece 15, Carlson Neece 11.
Robert had a successful career working for EDS, NCR and OnStar. When his corporate career ended, he embarked on his most fulfilling mission of driving a school bus. Bob was also cheap labor for Anne Rowan’s Framing Consultant business for nearly 25 years.
Robert and Anne Rowan were active members of St. Brigid Catholic Church in Johns Creek, GA where he served as an usher. Robert was an avid fan of Army football, Notre Dame Football and the New York Yankees. However, his favorite team was any soccer, swimming or basketball team played by the Conners or Neece grandchildren. He was their biggest fan.
A memorial service will take place at 11 am on October 14th at St. Brigid Catholic Church, 3400 Old Alabama Road, Johns Creek, GA 30022.
