Ruby Kathryn “Kitty” Stanfield of Atlanta passed away November 1, 2018. Ms. Stanfield was born in Jacksonville, FL on September 2, 1945 and was the daughter of Andrew and Margie Stanfield. Kitty grew up in East Point and graduated from Russell High School in 1963. She then received her Bachelor’s from Georgia State University and began working for the State of Georgia Labor Department. She later returned to Georgia State University to complete her Master’s Degree and began her teaching career in Fulton County Schools. Ms. Stanfield taught English classes at M.D. Collins High School for 4 years and then transferred to Milton High School where she taught Senior English Literature. She remained at Milton High School until her retirement in 2005. Kitty was a passionate teacher and was always dedicated to her students. Kitty loved reading, traveling and spending time with family and friends. She was an avid lover of cats and has always treasured her pets. Kitty was preceded in death by her father and grandparents. She is survived by her mother, Margie Stanfield and several cousins. In lieu of flower, contributions may be made to The Atlanta Humane Society in her memory. A Celebration of Life Service will be Saturday, December 8, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with friends being received beginning at 10:30 a.m. at H.M. Paterson and Son, Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Rd., NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328. A reception will immediately follow the service.
