Born on October 11, 1960, and raised in Hong Kong, Shandry initially pursued her creative passions by studying fashion design, specializing in handbag design. However, her life took a bold and adventurous turn when she and her beloved husband, Goodwin Law, decided to immigrate to the United States to pursue their dreams as entrepreneurs.
Together, Shandry and Goodwin founded Farmer’s Basket, a beloved comfort food chain restaurant. Through years of relentless diligence and hard work, they expanded the business across major Georgia landmarks, including Lenox Square Mall and Perimeter Mall, and into other states like Alabama and Maryland. Farmer's Basket became a staple for countless families and loyal regulars across diverse communities. Shandry and her husband stood as shining examples of the true fruits of hard work, dedication, and the American dream.
While Shandry achieved immense success in business, her impact was equally matched by her extraordinary generosity and civic leadership. She poured her time, resources, and heart into uplifting others, serving in numerous leadership roles within the community. Shandry served as the President of the Chinese-American Lions Club of Atlanta and held vital roles with the Chinese Community Center, OCA Georgia, the Atlanta Restaurant Association, and the Kwong Tung Association of Atlanta.
Her wisdom and guidance were sought after on the boards of the National Association of Chinese Americans, the Chinese Business Association of Atlanta, and the Hong Kong Association of Atlanta. Furthermore, as the Chairwoman and patron of the Chinese American Cultural Performing Group, she was instrumental in keeping vibrant cultural traditions alive and sharing them with the wider community.
Shandry’s enduring impact did not go unnoticed. The Georgia Asian Times named her one of the 25 Most Influential Asian Americans in Georgia a remarkable six times: in 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021, and 2022. This rare distinction serves as a powerful testament to how consistently and deeply she served the people around her.
Above all her professional and community triumphs, Shandry’s greatest joy and pride was her family. She raised two accomplished sons, instilling in them her own values of education and excellence.
Her eldest son, Alexander Law, earned two master's degrees (Actuarial Science, and Quantitative Risk Analysis and Management) and serves as a Senior Risk Consultant for a Big Four firm. Her younger son, Dennis Law, earned a master's degree in cybersecurity and works as a Developer for a major institutional bank.
Shandry Law is survived by her loving family who will carry her memory forward forever: her mother, Ching Lan Mo; her husband, Goodwin Law; her sisters, Yuk Na Chu, Yuk Ngai Chu, Yuk Hung Chu and Yuk Ping Chu; her brother, Yuk Pang Chu; her brothers-in-law, Hei Lung Chiu, Mau Han Sum and Chi Ho Lo; her sister-in-law, Hoi Yan So; her nieces, Yan Wah Lee, Wing Sun Lo and Wing Tung Lo; her nephews, Bun Ho Wong, Bun Hei Wong, Cheuk Him Sum and Cheuk Nam Chu; and her sons, Alexander Law and Dennis Law.
Her legacy of love, leadership, and resilience will live on in the hearts of the countless lives she touched.
