George Stephen Hermann (Steve), devoted father, grandfather and brother, passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at the age of 65. Steve was born March 20, 1949 to Doctor George Joseph Hermann and Margaret Harmon Hermann in Atlanta, Georgia. Along with his sister, Beverly Mangram, Steve spent his childhood growing up in the Druid Hills neighborhood of Decatur, Georgia. After graduating from Briarcliff High School, Steve attended Auburn University where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Business. He then went on to earn a Master’s in Business Administration from Georgia State University. During his time at Auburn Steve met his former wife, Lynn Harrison Hermann. Together they had two daughters, Lindsay Hermann Boseman and Kristin Hermann Goin. They resided for many decades in the Chimney Lakes subdivision of East Cobb. Steve was very active in the community serving as neighborhood association president and participating in both the neighborhood softball and tennis leagues. Community was very important to him and he maintained these friendships until his death. Professionally, Steve was a dedicated employee of the Bell South Corporation (now AT&T). He served in multiple leadership roles during his 27 year tenure with the company. Additionally, Steve cared about giving back and helping others. He volunteered through Roswell United Methodist Church tutoring underprivileged children and dedicated his time to the mentally handicapped. Most recently, Steve served with the Hosea Feed the Hungry organization. In his free time, Steve enjoyed tennis, golf, skiing and most importantly, dancing. He was very active in the Country Western Social Club, where he mastered the Country Two-Step, East Coast Swing and West Coast Swing. Additionally, Steve built many genuine friendships through the club and enjoyed socializing with all of the members. Most importantly, Steve was a devoted family man. He was very proud of his parent’s accomplishments, who were both WWII Veterans. He prided himself on providing for his family and being a guiding post for his daughters and grandchildren (Luke Boseman, Ada Boseman and Lane Goin). No one had a larger or more sincere heart. The celebration of Steve’s life will be held Sunday, December, 21 at two in the afternoon at H.M. Patterson & Son, Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Rd., Sandy Springs, GA 30328. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Hosea Feed the Hungry.
