Sue was born in Metter, GA on December 30, 1944. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Marie Franklin, and by the love of her life, Royce Cullens of Dublin, GA.
She is survived by Joe Franklin MD, brother, Marcia Franklin, sister-in-law, Winter Park, FL, Andrew Franklin, nephew, Chicago, IL, Suzannah Franklin, niece, Orlando, FL, Christiane Franklin, niece, Los Angeles, CA , Mildred Bland, aunt, and Cherry Douglas, cousin Richmond Hill, GA.
Sue attended Metter High School, winning the Miss Candler County title her senior year. She attended the University of Georgia in the “Best of Times”, graduating in 1966. She was fanatical about watching sports, especially her Georgia Bulldogs.
Sue loved to have a good time. On a college football party bus ride back to Athens from Jacksonville, after Georgia had been beaten by Florida, the bus stopped in Metter. I remember Royce’s comment, “We lost the game, but we won the parties!”
After college Sue moved to the Atlanta area where she lived for the remainder of her life, residing in Marietta since 1982. Never having had children, she viewed her brother’s three children as her own.
She was a Realtor with Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate in Atlanta and a Phoenix Award Recipient (10 consecutive year’s million dollar club) with the Atlanta Board Multi-Million Dollar Club.
Sue developed a very close group of friends that remained loyal to one another throughout her life. She was a confidant and counselor to all of them. Though seldom judgmental, she always pointed out the potential consequences of the various decisions each friend might make.
A celebration of Sue’s life was held at her home the Saturday following her death. A graveside inurnment service is scheduled for Saturday, December 5, 2:00PM, at the Lake Church Cemetery in Metter, GA.
In lieu of flowers please make donations in Sue’s memory to the Arthritis Foundation at www.arthritis.org.
