

Thomas Edward “Tommy” Clyatt, Jr., 80, passed away unexpectedly Friday, January 1, 2016. Mr. Clyatt was born February 9, 1935, at Crawford Long Hospital in Atlanta to Thomas Edward and Mary Sue Gibson Clyatt. He was a graduate of Brown High School and Georgia State University. A business entrepreneur, he owned Moores Mill Pharmacy for 19 years and Clyatt’s Insurance Services for 30 years. Mr. Clyatt was a longtime member of Northside Drive Baptist Church as well as Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity and several civic organizations. He was an aviation enthusiast and had a private pilot’s license. Mr. Clyatt was also an avid hunter and fisherman. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Rowena Jones Clyatt; his children: Thomas Edward “Ted” Clyatt and Rowena Clyatt Burcham (Ron); and grandchildren: Brent Burcham and Caroline Burcham. He was preceded in death by his parents and his only brother, Eugene Gibson Clyatt. The family will receive friends Monday, January 4, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at H.M. Patterson & Son Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Rd., NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328. Funeral services will be held at Northside Drive Baptist Church in Atlanta on Tuesday, January 5, at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or Northside Drive Baptist Church.
