Valland Haddad Franji, born February 12, 1939, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, September 24, 2025. Born to Gibran and Lettie Haddad and raised in Detroit, Michigan, she was active in her church, served as a church secretary, and sang soprano in her church choir for many years. She met and married her husband, Georges Franji, of 58 years in Toledo, Ohio. She moved to Atlanta in 1964, where she worked at Western Electric until the birth of her first child. Val was deeply faithful and filled with the love of God and his Blessed Mother. Her life was centered around her family. She took the greatest pleasure in being together and entertaining them with huge family meals and celebrations. She was an excellent cook and was happy to share with her neighbors, friends, and extended family. She welcomed a growing family and became a great-grandmother last year. She created a larger family in her community and treated everyone with kindness and generosity. She prayed with sincerity and great fervor. She is reunited with her parents and siblings, grandson Frank, and her beloved husband George. She is survived by sister Jackwyn Wheatt, Daughter Emily Lyles (Robert), Son Mike Franji (Lori), Daughter Yvette Daniel (John), Daughter Georgette Gepfer (Meghan), Grandchildren Joe (Krysten), George, Lauren, Renee, Ashlee, Alex, Grace, Zach, Aidan, Matthew, Hannah and Brianna as well as great grandaughter Frances.
May her memory be eternal. A visitation will be Saturday, September 27, 2025 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at St. Elias Antiochian Orthodox Church, 2045 Ponce De Leon Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30307. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 12:30 PM at the church. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park, 201 Mount Vernon Hwy, Sandy Springs, GA 30328.
