She was born on St. Patrick’s Day 1928 and raised in East Texas. Her twin brother died at birth. After marrying Jack, her loving husband of over 70 years, they moved to New Orleans, LA, Columbia, SC, Atlanta, San Rafael, CA, and Dallas, TX before returning again to Atlanta. Being a “people person” she made friends easily and had many longtime and true friends which were very important to her. She always remembered important dates and events in her friends lives. She spent much time over the years doing volunteer work at the Methodist Church, schools, and hospitals. She served on the auxiliary board of Emory Hospital where she was a “pink lady”. Her favorite volunteer role was at Northside Hospital where she worked on the postpartum floor with new mothers. She is survived by her husband, Jack, daughter, Debra, son-in-law, Guy Sommers, MD, sister, Margaret Havel of Rockdale, Texas, along with nieces, nephews and extended family. Five years ago she was honored by the naming of a great grandniece, “Vivian” who called her Grandee.
Heartfelt thanks go out to her wonderful friends and loving caregivers at Huntcliff Summit, Nadine Perry and Althea Fennell.
