Wayne Douglas Parker, PhD, age 61, passed away on November 26, 2012 after a two year battle with carcinoid cancer. Wayne was born August 6th, 1951 in Montgomery, AL, the son of Evelyn and Franklin Parker. He graduated magna cum laude from Yale University, where he was a member of the Whiffenpoofs, the world’s oldest collegiate a cappella group. After receiving his PhD in Clinical Psychology from Temple University, Dr. Parker completed a post-doctoral fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychology at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX. He has since been a marital and family therapist for over 35 years. Wayne was an active member of Buckhead Church, where he and his wife participated in the marriage mentoring program. He was preceded in death by his father, Franklin Parker. He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Miriam Parker, their children, Matthew E. Parker of St. Louis, MO, Meredith Parker Toy (Christopher) of Atlanta, GA and Grant A. Parker of Atlanta, GA. He is also survived by his mother, Evelyn Parker, sister, Ellen Kitchens (William) of Atlanta, GA, brother, Robert Parker (Karen) of Menton, France and precious granddaughter, Kylie Toy. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. at H.M. Patterson & Son Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Road, NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328. The family will receive friends and family one hour prior to the service at H.M. Patterson & Son Arlington Chapel. Burial will immediately follow the service at Arlington Memorial Park.
