

William Steven (Steve) Cagle, 62, of Marietta, died December 8, 2013. Mr. Cagle grew up in Sandy Springs, Georgia. He graduated from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama, where he received his BA and MA degrees in English and then went on to receive a Specialist’s Degree in Marketing Education from Georgia State University. While at Samford, he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha social fraternity and Omicron Delta Kappa national leadership honor society. He had a distinguished teaching career of over 30 years at Walton High School in Cobb County and was currently working as a Curriculum Program Specialist with the Technical College System of Georgia. While at Walton, he was selected as a STAR Teacher for the school and the 7th Congressional District. He consistently led his DECA students to state and national championships. He held various state and national leadership positions in Marketing Education. During the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, he was selected as Teacher Advisor to the student Dream Team. Outside of work, he enjoyed cruising with friends visiting many countries throughout the world. He was an avid tennis player and a member of ALTA Tennis League. He took great pride in finishing his one and only Peachtree Road Race. Mr. Cagle is survived by his wife, Lee Hitchcock Cagle; daughters, Ann Cagle Geer, and Karen Cagle Coyle (Brian); grandchildren, Madeline Elizabeth Geer, Grace Ann Geer, and Grayson William Coyle; mother, Dorothy Schlosser Cagle; sisters, Barbara Bridges (Brian) and Ann Fitzgerald (Mark); and brother, Robert Cagle (Gayla). In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society or to your favorite charity. A memorial service will be held Thursday, December 12, 2013 at 2 o’clock in the chapel at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church, 955 Johnson Ferry Road, Marietta, GA 30068. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 o’clock at H. M. Patterson and Son, Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Rd., NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328.
