
Mr. William Burson McGuire, 81, of Sandy Springs, Ga., passed away Sunday, November 6, 2011. Mr. McGuire was born in Atlanta on March 21, 1930. He graduated from Fitzgerald High and attended K.M.I. and West Point. He was a great debater and played football throughout his entire academic career. Bill was a member of Phi Delta Theta at Georgia Tech and graduated in 1953, with a B.S.I.M. He had a 35 year career with Westinghouse Electric Corporation and served two years in the Army as a first lieutenant. He was a life-long member of the United Methodist Church. Bill is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Ellen Newcomer McGuire; children and their spouses: Lynn M. Brown (Arnold), William N. McGuire (Ginny), and Mary M. Ray (John); grandchildren: William Craven McGuire, Katherine Ellen McGuire, John Warner Ray, III and Mary Elizabeth Ray. A celebration of Mr. McGuire’s life will be held Saturday, November 12, 2011 at 3 o’clock in the afternoon at H. M. Patterson & Son, Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Rd., Sandy Springs 30328. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Rev. Lisa Derrick and Rev. Frank Brown will preside.
