Ada M. Blanton 88 years old, was born on April 26, 1931 in Ashland, Ky. She went home to be with her Lord and Savior on January 23, 2020 in Lake Mary, FL. She was the daughter of the late George Hosskis and Roxie Hosskis (Lewis).
She is survived by her Husband Leonard (Shorty) Blanton, her Son Theadore (Ted) L. Blanton, her Daughter in-law Diana S. Blanton (whom she always referred to as her daughter), her Grandson Theadore L. Blanton, Jr. and her Great Grandson Christopher D. Blanton.
She Loved The Lord, her family, and her country. From a young age she loved to sing, she had a beautiful and powerful voice. She sang and performed in numerous plays and musicals from grade school through high school. She also performed and sang with her husband (Shorty) in many church plays and musicals throughout her adult life.
One of her most memorable and cherished moments occurred when she was crowned Mrs. Kentucky in 1968. During her tenure as Mrs. Kentucky she represented her state along with 1968’s Ms. Kentucky and Colonel Harland Sanders (Founder of Kentucky Fried Chicken) on the Kentucky State Float during the Inauguration Parade for President Richard Nixon in Washington D.C.
She will be missed by all who knew and loved her; however, she is now with her Lord and Savior, and more than likely singing beautiful praises to Him.
Memorial will be held March 5, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. (Visitation), and 3:00 p.m. (Memorial Service) at Westview Baptist Church at 4100 H.E. Thomas Jr. Parkway, Sanford, FL 32771.
