Ann Patricia Kohler
May 30, 1944 – December 2, 2018
Ann Patricia Head May 30th 1944 - December 2, 2018 Ann was born to the parents of Francis P. Head of the U.S. Army and Mildred Rita Hastings. She had two younger siblings, Paul and Cathy. Although Ann was born in Marlborough Massachusetts, her life would be spent in many parts of the country. Ann moved to San Diego at a young age and met a couple of lifelong friends, Judy and Rita while going to school, which would also play a major part in her life. She excelled in school and graduated with a major in mathematics and a master’s degree in physics at The University of San Diego College for Women. She worked for an air plane contractor Rhor till she met David Clark Kohler while roller skating with friends. David was an officer in the U.S. Navy and even though it was known to stay away from “Navy Boys” to the California girls, she married him on December 31, 1966 and so started her tour of the country with the man who truly made her happy till the day she passed. She lived in many places for brief times at first like Hamilton Ohio. Their first son, David Clark Kohler Jr. was born there, and as with many moves, managed to move one week after he was born. She lived in many places in the early years and family was always there to help her like when her second son, Michael Francis Kohler was born in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. She was a great example of a good navy wife and spent many stretches of months raising a family while David was away at sea with the Navy. When David began to move up in the navy ranks they moves became further apart and they actually began to have great family times with hobbies. Everyone know Ann as the lifelong quilter and computer expert, but she also first loved to go roller skating and took couple skating lessons for a long time. That dancing bug also included square dancing and while in Jacksonville Florida , she discovered clogging with lifelong Navy family friends, Beatty Sue and Lee Vincent. Sailing was also a passion that David passed on to Ann and they owned many forms of boats throughout the years. Once her sons were older Ann began her second love, teaching. Once David had retired as a Captain in the Navy in Orlando, Fl she had already had been a teacher in Jacksonville, Florida and Slidell, Louisiana. Her love of computers, having been around the first computers ever in the air craft industry, she continued her education and received her Doctorate degree in Information Technology from the University of Central Florida. Ann was a teacher or worked for the school board for almost 30 years and while that was a great love of hers, family and friends were her true love. She was blessed with 5 grand children and of course, a quilt was made for each of them. Michael and Stephanie gave her Josh, Emma and Julianna. David and Geneen gave her Luke and Avery. Her favorite retirement pass times were going to Lakeside, Ohio with Michael and his family, traveling and of course quilting. Her favorite pass time over the last 12 years was also spending time with her best friend and grandson Luke. Living next door to each other and together, they enjoyed watching crime shows on tv, debating current events on the radio or discovering new restaurants. She enjoyed travelling with Judy and her sister on cruises, she became a fan of quilting retreats.
