

Ben L. Adams died unexpectedly on May 3, 2017 in Orlando, Florida at the age of 66. Ben is survived by his devoted friends and work family at Orange County Corrections and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Emily Adams, and his brother Daniel Adams of Sanford, Florida. Ben was born on September 19, 1950 in Pensacola, Florida. His family moved to Sanford, FL where his father was stationed in the US Navy. He graduated from Seminole High School in Sanford, and from the University of Central Florida with a degree in Criminal Justice. After moving to South Florida, Ben began working for the Florida Department of Corrections as a Probation Officer. Ben returned to Sanford and began working for the Orange County Corrections Department on February 14, 1989, where he spent the remainder of his career. For the past 15 years Ben served as the Court Officer for the Community Corrections Division. He was highly respected by the Judiciary, legal counsel, court staff and his peers. He was a dedicated employee who loved his job, as well as a loyal friend to his work family. His knowledge, his wit and his generosity will be forever missed. A funeral is scheduled for Thursday, May 11th at 3:30pm at 5000 County Road 46A Sanford. Chaplin Norm Wilson will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend in celebration of Ben’s life.
