She was born in Winchester Va. and raised in Baker, W. Va. by loving grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold L. Ludwig. Betty attended Wardensville High School in W. Va. and graduated from Handley High School in Winchester, Va. She attended Jacksonville College of Music in Jacksonville, FL from 1954-1955. Betty was accepted as a voice student of the esteemed Dr. August Kingsmith in Washington, D.C. for five years. Betty attended Valencia Community College for Journalism in 1970-71. She worked at the Orlando Sentinel for 15 years. Her varied positions ranged from proofreader, Obituary page, copy writer to legal advertising. Betty and Luke lived in Spring Lake, Georgia for seventeen years before moving to Lake Mary in 2001. She was an active member of the J. Douglas Williams YMCA. Betty was a participant in the Lady Damskin Triathlon at the age of 74 and won her division.
She is preceded in death by her adored husband, Luke. She is survived by her daughters, Barbara (Spring, Texas) and Beth (Orlando); son Rob and wife Ramona (Winter Park); two step-daughters, Debra and Gail; two step-sons Fred and Kenneth; two grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; three great-granddaughters and one great-grandson; four step-great granddaughters, and sister Deanna Grove (Murphy), Dayton, TN.
