Candy was born in Richmond, Virginia to James and Sara Smith. She married Robert Costello in 1968 before the birth of their daughters. They left Virginia in 1983 for a new life in Florida. She made many lifelong friends over decades with Mary Kay Cosmetics. She is survived by her daughters Tracie Biery (Brad) and Kerri Holt (Donny), granddaughter Olivia Kaye, brothers Robert Smith (Barbara) and Bruce Smith (Carol).
