Carolyn Wynelle Faircloth Lanier of Sanford, Florida peacefully went to be with the Lord on December 3, 2016 with her family near her. Wynelle was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Faircloth and mother, Jenny Nixon Faircloth and by her husband, Pat Lanier. Surviving is her son David (Darla) and her granddaughters Jenny and Lindsay Corley (Nick). Wynelle was born on July 25, 1917 in Pineview, Georgia and came to Florida for the first time when she was six years old. She graduated from Seminole High School in 1936. She was employed by Southern Bell for ten years and worked for the Seminole County Tax Assessor and Seminole County School Board concluding a career that spanned 35 years. Wynelle was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Sanford where she was honored as Woman of the Year in 1987. A few years later, she was honored by the Sanford Kiwanis Club as recipient of the Roberta Gatchel Award. In 2002 she was the recipient of the Dr. Luis M. Perez Humanitarian Award given by Sanford/Seminole County Chamber of Commerce. She had tirelessly volunteered for her church, Hospice, Meals on Wheels and the Sanford Sharing Center. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Markham Woods Presbyterian Church on December 16 at 3:00 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to Baldwin Fairchild Oaklawn Chapel, Sanford, Florida (407-322-4263). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Thornwell, VITAS Healthcare or your favorite charity.
