Charles "Guy" Medlock III

MEDLOCK, CHARLES GUY III, Deland resident Guy Medlock passed away peacefully on March 1 at the age of 78 following a courageous battle with complications following a heart attack. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Elizabeth Brenner Medlock; one beloved daughter, Jennifer Elizabeth Medlock; sisters Mary Jean Zimmerman, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, Irene Heidt, Marietta, GA; sister-in-laws Susan Wolfe, Louisville, KY, Barbara (Sion) Daneshrad, Metairie, LA; cherished nephews and nieces Mark (Jo) Zimmerman, Acworth, GA, Mike (Tammy) Zimmerman, Paducah, KY, Matthew Zimmerman, Morristown, NJ, Steve (Sandra) Heidt, Peach Tree City, GA, Connie (Dempsey) Kirk, Marietta, GA, and Janet Heidt, East Point, GA. Born and reared in Jacksonville, FL, the son of the late Charles Guy Jr. and Ruby (Slaughter) Medlock. Guy graduated from Robert E. Lee High School, served his country in the United States Army and attended Florida State University. He enjoyed a successful 37 year career with Moore Business Forms where he formed many lifelong friendships. After retiring from Moore and moving to Florida in 1997, Guy was associated with Coldwell Banker Tyre and Taylor Realty in Eustis and founded Benchmark Building Inspections. He was an avid golfer and a wonderful "horse show Dad". He had a lifelong love of animals and nurtured many furry friends over the years. A visitation will be held Monday, March 14 from 11:00 to 1:00 in the Augusta Room at Baldwin-Fairchild Oaklawn Chapel, Sanford, FL, with a Celebration of Life Service to immediately follow and a Committal Service in the Tranquil Oaks Cremation Garden of the Oaklawn Cemetery, Sanford, FL. The family would like to extend their loving thanks to the ICU doctors and nurses at Florida Hospital Deland who gave Guy such wonderful compassionate care the last weeks of his life.
